What we do?
Shout Out! is an Advocacy Service for children and young people aged 0 – 18 years old, who work, live or study in Bath and North East Somerset. Advocacy can support you if you are:
- A child or young person in, or moving on from care
- A child or young person subject to a child protection conference
- A young person (aged 16 and 17) without a permanent home
- A disabled child or young person and you have not had your 19th birthday
- A child or young person who wants to make a complaint about social services provision
- A young people wanting to move on from care
Advocates are workers who support young people when there is something that they want support in changing about their lives. An Advocate will listen to your thoughts, wishes and feelings and help you to share your ideas with other people.
Shout Out! also offers support in writing letters, filling out forms or making phone calls. Sometimes you may feel embarrassed to say the things you need to say; in that case an Advocate can say them for you, or support you to say them for yourself.
We don’t work for schools, foster carers, parents or social services – we work for you! We also won’t tell anyone what you have talked about unless you ask us to. If you fall into one of the above groups, why not contact us and help us to help you get listened to!
