About Us

Off the Record Bath and North East Somerset (OTR) improves the emotional health and wellbeing of young people. We want every young person in Bath and North East Somerset and beyond to be emotionally healthy, confident and empowered in themselves.

We provide a range of free services including counselling, listening support, youth participation, advocacy and specialist groups, support for care leavers and a LGBT+ focused youth group.

Our Values

In every way we believe the importance of being equal, especially in status, rights, or opportunities.

We strive for young people to take the lead across the organisation, being genuinely needs led and responsive to what young people tell us works.

We believe that each of us can choose and define our own way forward with the right support.

Free, confidential, independent

We believe young people should freely access our services, as well as having the right to confidentiality, and to have confidence that we’re independent

Working together we can achieve more

Inclusive & accessible

We strive to be truly inclusive and accessible

Committed to building the capacity of our staff and volunteers

Our Story

Whilst we share a name with other Off the Record charities across the UK, we are a completely independent charity established in 1994, then merging with with Off the Record Wansdyke in 1998 to cover the whole of Bath and North East Somerset and beyond.

In 2018 we worked with 2,508 young people.  The core outcomes of our work were improvements in young people's communication, confidence, resilience, aspirations and determination, and the prevention of future mental health problems. 99% of young people said they’d recommend us to a friend.
