What is Youth Forum?

Youth Forum is a group for young people in Bath and North East Somerset (BANES) who want to make a difference in their community. If you’re aged 11–18, or up to 25 if you have additional needs, this is for you!

Our sessions are supported by the local Off the Record (OTR) team, but everything we talk about and work on is decided by you. It’s a space where your voice matters.

 

What happens at a session?

We meet every two weeks on Thursday from 4:45pm to 6:45pm, near Bath city centre. Sessions include:

  • Talking about things that matter to young people

  • Sharing ideas and planning projects

  • Working together to make change happen

  • Time to relax, chat, welcome new members and socialise

This is our Group Agreement which is a set of shared guidelines or "ground rules" that young people and OTR staff have co-created to establish a safe, respectful, and productive environment at Youth Forum.

What have we done so far?

One of our big projects was the Neurodivergent in Schools campaign. We asked local students what would help them, created a guide for schools, and shared it with teachers. Schools loved our ideas and promised to use them!

We even won a Highly Commended award at the BANES Community Awards for Young Volunteer Team of the Year.

Right now, we’re planning a Youth Summit with local councillors and other youth groups.

If you want to speak up, share ideas, and help make positive changes, come along! Being part of Youth Forum is completely free. We provide food at each session and can cover travel expenses if needed.
